Visit us at The Yard
The Yard was established in July 2017, to offer a showcase for local musicians at the weekend. It has continued to do this ever since providing many people their first ever platform for live performance. Collaborations have been formed, friendships & relationships made and a community established.
Over the 3 years The Yard has also offered a Book Club, Vinyl Night, Choir Practice, Market Stalls, Quizzes, Drama performances and regular Art Exhibitions, including the work of local disabled artists. It also offers an affordable meeting place for grass roots groups and has also hosted the very popular Reigate Repair Cafe, which puts skilled volunteers together to repair household items for local residents, whilst passing on their knowledge, and reducing landfill.
During the lockdown, The Yard provided a headquarters and focus for local volunteer efforts. Whilst shops and libraries were still closed The Yard offered a Book Swap service. This has since been absorbed into the fabric of the building, and the history of its being, with book shelves squeezed into every nook and cranny!!
Live Music, the lifeblood of The Yard resumed in August on weekend evenings, with a new model of advance ticket entry only, for a smaller audience, as a Covid-Secure Venue. As cafes and restaurants have struggled to offer enough seating post-Covid, The Yard now offers socially distanced outside seating with screened seating booths inside and rebranded itself as a 'Seatery', where you can bring coffee or takeout, a bottle of wine or a picnic, your laptop, a book or a friend and enjoy the vibe for just £1ppph.
As we head into winter, coats are a must, but the whole area is undercover. Winter timetable is now Thursday to Saturday only 9-5pm (£1ppph). Evening opening on request. Advance bookings only. (min 4-6 people @ £6 each).
